cWater - Forprosjekt

Alternative title: cWater - Preliminary project

Awarded: NOK 0.50 mill.

Over the last two years a dramatic drop in the oil price has forced the oil and gas industry to intensify the look for new technology that leads to increased efficiency, optimisation of oil and gas production, and reduced production cost. The operating companies will implement technology that gives accurate characterization of produced water in multi phase flow. Currently available solutions have significant weaknesses. "cWater" is a sensor technology developed through several years of research at Christian Michelsen Research (CMR) in Bergen. cWater is a compact , low cost and robust sensor that can be installed in harsh environments. This makes cWater versatile in a wide range of applications, especially within measurements of production flow with high water content. The compact size combined with low CAPEX and OPEX leads to a new and big area for production optimization to increase recovery rates and improve cost control. A high focus on increased recovery rates combined with high focus on reduced use of chemicals gives a large market potential for cWater. cWater can also be retrofitted on existing wells where data from the sensor can be utilized to improve recovery rate during tail production. This project will investigate marketopportunities and competition focusing on agreement(s) with one or more project partners, and in addition clarify current requirements for product qualification.
