Salmon Blood - from waste to high value products Salmon blood from the Norwegian fish farming industry is being treated as a waste product and is the only by-product that is not utilized commercially. The core concept of this project is to utilize this highly accessible and abundant raw material to produce a unique and high quality salmon blood product with a broad range of possibilities. The product can be used as a supplement product and within fortification (food products). We have developed a new and innovative method for the utalizagtion of blood. Also, we have sucessfully completed a pilot study in healthy females confirming the potential of our salmon blood product. The market is considered significant in size, and is expected to continuously grow due to the increased awareness and demand for healthy products and preventive health supplements. A successful outcome of this project has the potential of creating a significant number of new jobs in Norway, converting and utilizing a present waste product into a number of end user products for a better health. These are internationally demanded highly valued products representing a significant value increase. Realistic and achievable project goals - combined with collaboration with suppliers of raw material and potential customer, makes this project set for a business establishment after the verification period.
