Teknoløft Sogn og Fjordane

Alternative title: Teknoløft Sogn og Fjordane

Awarded: NOK 26.2 mill.

The Teknoløft Sogn og Fjordane project aims to build capacity and expertise in digitalisation and automation, in particular on robotics and big data, at the Western Norway University of Applied Science and Western Norway Research Institute through the education of PhD candidates and conducting research in close cooperation with local enterprises. The project is cooperating closely with local enterprises and has contributed to a number of proposals for new innovation projects financed by the Research Council of Norway. The project is currently involved in three IPN-projects for companies in the region, and has in 2022 been awarded and started a researcher project for technological convergence related to Enabling technologies on Big Data. The project is also starting a collaborative KSP-project on robotic production of fruit and berry in 2023. In total, the project is involved in – including spin-off-projects – research projects with a total budget of more than 150 million kroner in the region. The scientific dissemination from the project is good, , and the research capacity in the research institutions is strengthened through new researchers to further enable research-based innovation projects for local enterprises. The project has also established a new master degree in ICT Engineering: Applied computer science and engineering at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences starting in 2023. The project has reached the goal of creating viable research groups in big data and in robotics, and to double funding for research-based innovation in the region.
