Validé provides modern technology transfer services and operates a highly successful and effective innovation support system. Validé powers the innovation ecosystem in Rogaland by providing services through its business units: technology transfer, startup incubator, investment and through various programs such as accelerators, student incubator and clusters. Valide`s R&D and innovation portfolio are powered by over 1.900 researchers and over 14.500 students in seven research institutes. These research institutes have available over 1Billion NOK in budgets for research and 250Million NOK from industry sponsoring. The majority, two-third of the technology portfolio and deal flow is from the fields of Energy and Health. Validé has in the past delivered several successful commercialisations in form of licenses and startups what today valued at hundreds of millions of NOK. These commercialisations continuous to make an impact on society related to products and services in the fields of energy, renewable energy, medical devices, biotechnology, health technologies and so on. It is important to highlight that although these metrics are impressive and a result of a strong strategic focus on research and innovation in the region, some of the statistics show accelerating changes: the number of researchers employed at these research institutes have increased by 250, the number of students by more than 300 and the funding for research and innovation by over 110M NOK since 2015. Moreover, we are dynamically increasing two of the most important metrics of any TTO: number of disclosures and the number of transactions. Investments from private and public funds secured by startups related to TTO operations are over 30M NOK, the same for the overall Validé portfolio companies are over 100M NOK. The Plogen Program, which provides early-stage innovation and development support provided by the partner research institutes and private companies is closing a 20M NOK fund in 2018.
