4th Multistep Enzyme Catalyzed Processes Congress

Awarded: NOK 0.20 mill.

The mission of the ESAB Section is to promote the development of Applied Biocatalysis throughout Europe. Applied Biocatalysis is the development through science and engineering of useful biological catalysts and their commercial applications. This conference aims to cover the broad field of multienzyme systems from the "simplest" system in which one or a few isolated enzymes are used alone or in combination with non-enzyme-catalyzed steps, to the most "complex" system in which artificial pathways are created or even whole cells are modified to be used as synthetic cell factories. Bio-analytical and bio-sensors and modeling. computational methods of cascade processing methods and Synthetic biology are also topics to be covered. MECP18 will attract attendees from both academia and industry presenting and discussing their newest research in enzyme catalysed reactions and processes. Collaboration in Biocatalysis has been supported by EU Frameworks as three subsequent COST actions. Experts form Asia and North America have also been active collaborators in the different initiatives. Topics for invited plenary lectures, oral presentations and poster presentations: Systems Biocatalysis Interfacing Chemical and Enzymatic Steps Retrosynthesis Bioinformatics and Modelling Novel Biosynthetic Pathways Cell-free versus Whole Cell Systems Process Intensification and Scaling Industrial Applications Seven academic experts in the above mentioned topics fields and industry leaders have been invited to give plenary lectures with focus on their research, se project description.
