SET 11: Leadership of SP1 Electrochemical Storage (Batteries) of the EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage

Awarded: NOK 0.71 mill.

This Project is a continuation of Project SET 9: Participation in EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage-sub programme Electrochemical Storage. The goals of the members of the sub programme include: -Provide input to the EU Commission workplans and roadmaps concerning batteries during the drafting -To actively contribute to the EERA / EASE roadmap. -Build a strong network covering the entire value chain from materials to battery integration. -Organising workshops (such as Hybrid Energy Systems Workshop series) and other entities -To build projects and consortia together and with industry to tackle specific challenges related to battery technology. -To assist in actions to facilitate the SET Plan Implementation Plan Action 7 -Coordinate with the SNET ETIP on smartgrids Two meetings will be held annually with additional workshops and activities. The goal of the Norwegian project is to enhance our exposure in the battery ecosystem in Europe, to be more visible, and ultimately become a major contributor to EU research projects.

This project has led us to multiple EU projects and has placed Norway and SINTEF on the EU Battery map

This Project is a continuation of Project SET 9: Participation in EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage-sub programme Electrochemical Storage Number 257739. The role of Edel Sheridan has changed from a WP leader to overall leader of the sub program on Electrochemical Energy Storage in Spring 2017. Edel Sheridan at SINTEF Industry, Department of Sustainable Energy Solutions is the coordinator of the EERA ES sub programme Electrochemical Energy Storage (Batteries and Supercapacitors) since March 2017. The SP1 is now structured to provide expertise to cover the entire battery value chain from materials to integration with leaders appointed to each group. The goals of the members of the Sub programme include • Provide input to the EU Commission workplans and roadmaps concerning batteries during the drafting • To actively contribute to the EERA / EASE roadmap. • Build a strong network covering the entire value chain from materials to battery integration. • Organising workshops (such as Hybrid Energy Systems Workshop series) and other entities • To build projects and consortia together and with industry to tackle specific challenges relating to battery technology. • To assist in actions to facilitate the SET Plan Implementation Plan Action 7 • Coordinate with the SNET ETIP on smart grids – two of the members of the EERA ES are also members of the SNET ETIP Energy Storage WP and hence coordinate input to required actions. Two Meeting will be held annually with additional workshops and activities.
