Utvikling og etablering av en testsone for fremtidens bærekraftige reiselivsopplevelser og levedyktige lokalsamfunn

Global tourism is changing, this rapidly growing industry creates both engagement and possibilities, and puts some of the current social challenges on the national agenda. Current and future tourism depends on vital communities, but what happens to Norwegian tourism if the local communities deteriorate or disappear completely? Many of the most attractive adventures are located at remote places where investments are risky, this represents challenges to Norwegian tourism. In this project we want to find out how sustainable tourism and viable communities for the future can be formed, including a balanced tourist industry. How much tourist activity does a given community need, and how much can it take? ?Testsone Træna? set out with the goal to develop and establish a test zone where you could experiment with methods and processes to create sustainable travel experiences and robust rural local societies. Over three years the project has explored a series of different concepts, like for example ?at home-restaurants?, workations, artists/families/researchers in residence, and voluntary work tourism. This exploration has led to learning experiences that contributes to the development strategies for Træna Municipality and concept plans for Træna 365. The most important outcome of the project is the contribution to the realization of the community hotel Træna 365. Træna 365 will combine museum, culture, hotel, nature experiences, housing and business spaces. The goal is to become a reference point for how you can combine sustainable community development and rural tourism. Træna 365 will create an arena where locals, traveling workers and tourist can interact and further develop Træna. A development company has been established, and the building has started. The first construction phase consists of 5 cabins that will be finished by the end of 2021. The next stages will comprise the hotel, cultural premises, meeting facilities, docks and bath/spa. The target is to open in 2023. The experiences and learnings drawn from this project will contribute to shape attitudes and culture for the project owner and participants, as well as other audience that might be interested in sustainable rural develop projects.

Det viktigste konkrete resultatet som prosjektet har vært med å bidra til, er realiseringen av «samfunnshotellet Træna 365». Træna 365 vil kombinere både museum, kultur, hotell, naturopplevelser, boliger og næringslokaler. Målet er å bli et referansepunkt for hvordan man kan drive bærekraftig stedsutvikling og turisme samlet sett. Træna 365 skal være basert på kultur- og naturopplevelser samtidig som det fungerer som en inkubator for gründere og samfunnsengasjerte. Prosjektet vil bidra til en arena hvor fastboende, tilreisende gründere og andre besøkende vil kunne interagere og utvikle Træna videre. Et eget utviklingsselskap er opprettet, investorer er på plass, og byggingen er i gang. Første byggetrinn består av 5 hytter som skal stå ferdige i 2021. Deretter vil neste byggetrinn bestå av hotell, kultur- og samlingslokaler, utendørsområder, kaianlegg og badstue/spa. Her er målet åpning i 2023.

Reiselivet globalt er i endring. Denne raskt voksende næring skaper både engasjement og muligheter, og setter noen av vår tids samfunnsutfordringer på den nasjonale agendaen. Dagens og fremtidens reiselivsnæring er avhengig av levende lokalsamfunn. Men hva skjer med norsk reiseliv hvis lokalsamfunnene svekkes, eller forsvinner helt? Mange av de mest attraktive opplevelsene ligger på steder som er avsides og hvor investeringer er forbundet med stor risiko, noe som skaper utfordringer for det norske reiselivet Vi vil i dette prosjekt undersøke hvordan fremtidens bærekraftige reiseliv og levedyktige lokalsamfunn kan formes, og hvordan et balansert reiseliv kan skapes. Hvor stor turistaktivitet tåler og trenger et gitt lokalsamfunn?
