A European PRImary care Multi-prOfessional Researcher network (PRIMORE)

Alternative title: Et europeisk nettverk tverrprofesjonelt nettverk for primærhelsetjenesteforskning

Awarded: NOK 0.82 mill.

The objective of this proposed project is to strengthen the synergy between and the internationalization of Norwegian research in care services and in primary care. We hence have established and will develop further a researcher network in Europe (PRIMORE) with the aim to create opportunities for care services researchers and primary care researchers from different disciplines, sectors and countries to develop and share knowledge for the benefit of care services' research and primary care research and, eventually, the quality of the services in Europe. The network represents a broad range of European countries, including southern, central and eastern European countries, and also Israel and Turkey. Insufficient coordination is a major cause for lack of responsiveness and poor efficiency of health systems. A strategy of Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) appears to be part of the answer, with a focus on integration of care and the enhancement of coordination among primary care services. This strategy can further facilitate coordination between primary care and other levels and types of services, and alignment of delivery and organization of primary care to meet the needs of local communities. This network will contribute to improve the evidence for COPC and is organized in four thematic working groups: Healthy ageing, Mental Health, Organization of health and care services, and, Prison health and primary care. Seven main activities of the network past year have been: 1. A PRIMORE workshop at the European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC) yearly conference, 6th through 7th September 2021. Centre for Care Research at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences was hosting the conference. Due to the Covid-19 situation the conference was online. 2. Monthly online international research seminars 3. Follow-up of the students of the Masterclass for young European researchers 27-29 September 2020. Students from the Masterclass arranged an own workshop presenting their work during the EFPC 2021 conference. 4. Further development of Position papers. This work is to be finalized during a PRIMORE workshop in Bergen in March 2022.
