UiT The Arctic University of Norway in collaboration with the Sámi University of Applied Sciences (SA), will arrange an academic writing seminar in Sami. The goal of the academic writing seminar is to actively contribute to the strengthening of the Sami as an academic language. We will do this by motivating and building the capacity of students at the Ph.D. level and other researchers from a wide range of disciplines, to publish their research in Sami. The aim of the academic writing seminar is also to support students at the doctorate level and other researchers who want to publish their results in Sami, but who do not feel linguistically safe enough to do so. Many researchers lack the experience to write academic texts in Sami and they need an arena where they can get support, discuss and develop their skills in academic writing. A long-term goal is to increase the number of publications submitted to the Sámi diedalaš áigecála, a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journal written in Sami.
