Gjenbruk av slam fra akvakultur.

In the autumn of 2018, the feasibility study "Reuse of sludge from aquaculture" was carried out. Release of sludge from fish farms is a challenge that has received increasing attention. The objective of the study was to investigate solutions to the challenge that release of organic waste from fish farming entail. Aquapro has during the project period worked on a logistics solution for sludge from fish farms. Cooperation has been established with two local companies on rebuilding and operating a boat that will collect and dewater sludge. Currently, it is planned to collect sludge at two closed plants in Hordaland, development of a solution for open fish farms is underway. Various ways of dealing with the sludge have also been investigated. Possible applications are fertilizer in agriculture or raw material for biogas. The sludge can also be dried and used as fuel. For this application, methods for drying sludge after dewatering have been investigated. Drying of sludge also has the advantage of it being hygienized and storage stable.

Utslipp av slam (avføring og fiskeforrester) fra akvakulturanlegg er en miljøutfordring. Prosjektet 'Gjenbruk av slam fra akvakultur' skal undersøke tekniske og markedsmessige forhold knyttet til oppsamling og anvending av slam fra akvakultur til bioenergi/brensel og gjødsel. Tekniske utfordringer med prosjektet er design av et system for oppsamling, lagring og videre transport og prosessering av slam fra oppdrettsanlegg. Velprøvd teknologi fra prosessindustri og vann og avløpshåndtering vil kunne tilpasses bruk i akvakulturnæringen. Markedsmessige utfordringer går på å finne marked og bruksområder for slammet. Fjernvarmeanlegg, biogass, gjødsel/jordforbedring er potensielle anvendelser.
