Navigated Well Stimulation

Fishbones' Multilateral Stimulation Technology for stimulation of oil and gas wells with accuracy and efficiency is a relatively new method in the global stimulation market. The current standard Fishbones system connects the well to the reservoir by creating laterals randomly in all directions (360°). Many reservoirs are very thin and/or have over and underlaying zones where penetration is unfavorable. Several clients have contacted Fishbones requesting a system with controlled orientation of the laterals either horizontally only, vertically only or a combination of both. The main benefit with the Fishbones Navigated Well Stimulation concept is that it will prevent communication with nearby underlying and/or overlaying zones in a reservoir. This is applicable in thin reservoirs and where the well is placed close to the under- or overlaying zone. The most critical R&D challenge will be to design a cost-efficient orientation system for the current technology. In order to orient Fishbones' Multilateral Stimulation Technology all major components of the system need to be redesigned and tested in a full-scale environment.
