SET 12: Operating Agent for IEA Hydro AnnexIX

Awarded: NOK 0.73 mill.

The work as Operating Agent is to organise meetings, workshops and seminars, and coordinate all tasks, deliverables and actions within the IEA Technology Collaboration Program (TCP) on Hydropower, Annex IX "Valuing Hydropower Services", as well as information and dissemination activities both within the Annex and externally. Annex IX has organised several meetings and webinars, has contributed to IEA Hydropower Special Market Report and delivered two White Papers and four reports. The White Papers are: Flexible hydropower providing value to renewable energy integration Valuing Flexibility in Evolving Energy Markets: Current Status and Future Outlook for Hydropower

IEA Hydro Annex IX has succeeded in contributing to a better understanding of the value of hydropower services. This is especially noticed by the improved understanding and focus on hydropower from IEA, summarized by the IEA leader Fatih Birol: "Hydropower is the forgotten giant of clean electricity, and it needs to be put squarely back on the energy and climate agenda if countries are serious about meeting their net zero goals"

Arbeidet som "Operating Agent" vil bestå av følgende elementer. - Organisere, planlegge, gjennomføre og etterbehandle møter, workshops og telefonkonferanser i Annex IX - Planlegge aktiviteten fram mot en "International Hydrobalancing roadmap" - Koordinere og redigere innspill og dokumenter fra deltakerne i Annex IX og eventuelt andre inviterte eksperter - Analysere informasjon fra andre land og sammenligne med rammeverk fra CEDREN - Identifisere likheter, ulikheter, utfordringer og muligheter i ulike lands håndtering av balansekraft, energilagring og fleksibilitet i energisystemet - Lede utforming og redigering av en "International Hydrobalancing roadmap" - Formidle resultater fra arbeidet til mynidgheter og industri internasjonalt - Informasjon til og inkludering av synspunkter, rapporter og aktiviteter fra interessenter i Norge, hovedsaklig gjennom HydroCen
