Awarded: NOK 0.50 mill.

The traveling exhibition which has been named Tuulessa-In the wind is based in the research project IMMKven. The IMMKven research deals with how Kven cultural heritage is expressed today, and the traveling exhibition presents research findings and stimulates to dialogue around the project field work. Via the exhibit, the IMMKven project seeks to bring back knowledge to Kven/Norwegian Finn communities. The exhibition has been designed in collaboration with museums and Kven / Norwegian-Finnish institutions in Troms and Finnmark. The traveling exhibition consists of two parts: A "fixed" part, where the IMMKven researchers present questions, methods and interpretations, and a "local" part where collaborating institutions use their collections to link the previous to a local understanding. The exhibition invites the public to provide feedback and input in light of the interpretations disseminated in Tuulessa. The objective is to make people curious about contemporary Kven and Norwegian-Finnish cultural heritage; it is an exhibition that invites people to meet and reflect on insights and findings from the research project, and thus contributes to public debate about the national minority Kvens / Norwegian Finns. The exhibition stimulates stakeholders, including private and public actors, to participate in dialogue and interaction related to the articulation and management of Kven / Norwegian-Finnish cultural heritage. To help us in the design of the exhibition, we have among others, collaborated with the artist Åsne Kummeneje Mellem and the craftspeople Bjørn-Tore Josefsen and Hans-Erik Olsen at Nord-Troms museum. To explore good approaches and communication techniques, we have collaborated with communicators from the places where the exhibition will be shown: Norges arktiske universitetsmuseum in Tromsø, Nord-Troms museum in Nordreisa, Alta Museum, Kvensk Institutt in Børselv og Vadsø museum -Ruija Kvenmuseum in Vadsø. The exhibition opened in Tromsø January 2022, and after that it has been available in Nord-Troms museum in Nordreisa. It is currently presented at Alta museum and will travel on to Kvensk Institutt in Børselv during the Spring 2023. It will then be at Vadsø museum-Ruija kvenmuseum in late Summer of 2023.
