NANO2021-Nanoteknologi og nye materiale

Norwegian NanoSymposium 2019

Awarded: NOK 99,999

For the past fourteen years NTNU Nano has organized a small symposium for NTNU students covering nanotechnology, nanoscience and functional materials. Last year NTNU hosted the International Student Conference on Nanoscience, INASCON, organized by our masterstudents in nanotechnology in cooperation with NTNU Nano. The feedback from INASCON was extremely positive, and it became clear from discussions with Norwegian attendees that there is a strong demand for a regular meeting on nanoscience in Norway. We therefore wish to develop our existing Nano Symposium into a bi-annual, two-day international conference, beginning October 2019. The primary aim is to facilitate cross-disciplinary communication and networking between researchers and master students in areas relating to nanoscience, nanotechnology and functional materials. The program will include scientific presentations by high profile international and national speakers, and a panel debate on topical issues in nanotechnology. Master students and PhD candidates will have an opportunity to present their work through short oral presentations and poster presentations. We are aiming at good participation from all Norwegian research institutions, and the following speakers from universities in Norway have already been confirmed: • Lasse Vines (UiO) • Bodil Holst (UiB) • Kaiying Wang (USN) • Olav Gaute Hellesø (UiT) • Olena Zavorotynska (UiS) • Pawel Sikorski (NTNU) An important purpose of the meeting is to encourage networking between attendees. Hence, we will ensure the meeting is not only informative but also entertaining, with plenty of informal and fun audience-focused events, including a conference dinner. Between 150 and 200 participants from across Norway and Europe are expected to participate.
