11th Petite Workshop on the Defect-chemical Nature of Solids

Awarded: NOK 99,999

The 11th Petite Workshop on the Defect-chemical Nature of Solid (Petit-11) will be organized by the Group of Electrochemistry, Department of Chemistry, UiO at Sommarøy Artic Hotel, Tromsø, Norway, October, 19 - 22, 2019. Defects are essential to functional properties of solids and understanding defect chemistry and its implications are essential to the development of new technologies and to improve already existing ones. Petite-11 gathers some of the nestors in the field of defect chemistry together with researchers, post docs and PhD students to present and discuss the frontiers of the field, covering new phenomena, materials and processes both from fundamental and application related aspects. The scientific program at the workshop will consist of approximately 30 oral contributions and a poster session. Subjects that will be discussed during the workshop embrace defect chemical properties of solids in general, and novel energy related materials and nano ionic phenomena in particular, all the way from fundamental elementary processes to applications. This will include processes at surfaces, interfaces as well as for bulk of the materials - transport phenomena, electrical and electrochemical properties, mechanisms, experimental and computational approaches, etc. There will be a particular focus on discussion of the science during and in between the sessions nursing old and promoting new collaborations among the delegates.
