PES: Foresight

Awarded: NOK 74,999

The overall vision of the Foresight project is to prototype, pilot and commercialise our complete solution to solve most of the pains associated to maintenance strategies in the maritime sector. By combining a state-of-the-art sensor with a novel analytical software embedded on it, we can provide better assessment regarding the expected life of the different components of critical machinery (e.g. maritime cranes, gearboxes, oil/fuel pumps). Our sensor is glued or welded onto each critical part and it uses the vibrations to extract the frequencies that are indicators of problems inside the component. The changes over time of the frequencies in the vibration enables us to determine the current health of the component. Foresight will allow to perform all the calculations on site to inform the crew without the need of a data analysis expert on board, who can also access to the data in remote for a more detailed review. The aim of the envisaged project is to move our current prototype technology to full commercialisation onto the global market. We will reduce the number of complementary sources of data, such as tachometers, and prepare our data collection and communication hardware for the installation in large vessels and offshore platforms. The final prototype will be validated in a drilling vessel and an offshore platform and necessary certifications will be initiated. To increase our commercial success and impact, we have created a Strategic Business Plan, as a detailed roadmap, describing all necessary activities we need to undertake to ensure a successful market introduction. As an outcome of this Accelerator Pilot project, we will create our final Commercialisation Plan (CP). As the envisaged Accelerator Pilot project builds upon a validated prototype technology, the majority of our efforts will be focused on piloting and commercialisation activities.
