PolySorb optimized and verified a new, low cost and non-toxic wood modification system, urgently needed to replace traditional alternatives. The modification by pressure impregnation of wood with sorbitol and citric acid (PolySorb) developed at The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) will significantly improve dimensional stability and decay resistance of low-durability wood. The goal of this project is to become a sustainable international provider of pressure impregnated sustainable wood. This technology has been verified in a small scale in-house pilot and is on its way to an industrial demonstration project during the fall of 2022 in cooperation between CIOL AS and their first customer.
