Past changes in inter-annual climate variability: linking tropical and high latitude processes

Our proposal aims to study possible links between tropical and high-latitude changes in interannual climate variability. The NORCE and UN teams intend to compare their methodologies, and expertise on marine bivalves and sediment cores and cross-correlate results from high and low latitudes. Links with the climate modelling group at the NORCE/Bjerknes Centre for Climate Change will be favourable to integrating paleoclimate data into current GCM and serve to increase the accuracy of these models and future climate predictions. The project will provide the required rich and diversified research environment to foster new ideas and new research projects.
