NORSI functions as the Nordic research school dedicated to Ph.D. students specializing in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. It takes the lead in coordinating Ph.D. courses and other high-quality activities across its partner institutions, all of which work collaboratively to enhance and pool their resources. Employing this network-centric approach, NORSI member institutions collectively strive to provide outstanding research education in innovation and entrepreneurship for Ph.D. studies in the Nordic countries. The primary missions of NORSI are twofold: firstly, to support and empower the upcoming generation of researchers specializing in innovation and entrepreneurship by enriching and facilitating research education in Norway and other Nordic nations; secondly, NORSI aims to enhance coordination and fortify both Nordic and international connections within the research community. The breadth of NORSI's course offerings and research discussions underscores the shift toward a knowledge-centric society, placing a significant emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurial drivers and processes across all sectors. There is an escalating need for well-vetted collaborative knowledge concerning innovation and entrepreneurial processes within society. Addressing global challenges in sustainable development, such as climate change and inequality, necessitates innovative and entrepreneurial knowledge. NORSI is actively planning to evolve its cross-disciplinary program to meet the evident need for well-founded understanding in these domains. Leveraging its multidisciplinary approach, NORSI serves as a rendezvous point for young researchers, affording them a disciplinary focus and a stronger research identity within this multifaceted research field. By engaging with NORSI, students and faculty become integral members of a network that offers collaboration opportunities, research dissemination avenues, and international exchanges. The participation of faculty and students in NORSI leads to an expansion of their professional networks, contributing to heightened internationalization across participating NORSI institutions. As of 2023, NORSI has established partnerships with 31 esteemed institutions across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. Anticipating growth, by the end of 2023, this number is projected to increase to 32 partner institutions. NORSI consistently offers an array of Ph.D. courses each semester, supplemented by networking events, digital gatherings, seminars, conferences, and enriching field trips. With approximately 283 active students and 135 alumni, in addition to a vast number of affiliated faculty members, NORSI is experiencing rapid expansion. Presently boasting a diverse portfolio of courses and activities, catering to students, there is a burgeoning demand from both alumni and faculty employees affiliated with NORSI. Looking ahead, NORSI aspires to extend its support to these groups by organizing seminars and networking events.

NORSI is the Nordic research school for PhD students within the research areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. NORSI coordinates PhD courses and other activities of high international standard among its partner institutions. All NORSI member institutions work together to facilitate activities and pool resources. With this network-based approach, NORSI member institutions create an excellent research education within innovation and entrepreneurial-oriented PhD studies in the Nordic countries. NORSI’s key missions are firstly to support the next generation of researchers within innovation and entrepreneurship by enhancing and facilitating research education in Norway and the other Nordic countries. Secondly, NORSI aims to further coordinate and strengthen the Nordic and international connections in the research community. The NORSI course portfolio and research discussions reflects that we increasingly live in a knowledge-intensive society with a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurial incentives and processes in all sectors. The need for collaborative and appropriately vetted knowledge about innovation and entrepreneurial processes in society has increased. Global solutions to sustainable development challenges such as climate change and inequality requires innovative and entrepreneurial knowledge. NORSI plan to evolve its cross-disciplinary program as the need for appropriately evidence-based understanding in these areas is apparent. With its multi-disciplinary approach NORSI is for young researchers an meeting place that give a disciplinary focus and stronger research identity in a multi-disciplinary research field. Through NORSI students and faculty are part of a network that provides opportunities for collaborations, research dissemination and international exchanges. Faculty and students expand their network through NORSI and increased collaboration results in hightned internationalization of participating NORSI institutions.
