Trusted infrastructure for application of AI solutions in federated genomic databases

The development of different AI technologies in healthcare, creation of clinical repositories containing genetic data and the building of infrastructure to support these, are continuing to increase in prevalence, in parallel to support clinical decision making and decrease the burden of disease. Despite the availability of these initiatives, cohesion between them is often not achieved, and there remains reservations in combining developing AI solutions with clinical data, and concerns about the protection of patients’ privacy from cyber security threats. Combining and building methods within an environment that prioritises trust assurances and transparency, with a focus on ethics, provides an opportunity to address bottlenecks and increase uptake and delivery of AI in federated genomic based healthcare, and that, in tandem with the development of clinically identified AI solutions, is what we propose within our proposal to H2020: DT-TDS-04-2020 AI for genomics and personalised medicine
