SAMEVAL network activities and PhD courses - PRIO Migration Research Group

Alternative title: SAMEVAL-nettverksaktiviteter og PhD-kurs - PRIO Migration Research Group

Awarded: NOK 1.6 mill.

The Migration Research Group at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), led by Research Professor Jørgen Carling, is an interdisciplinary, internationally orientated research environment studying central theoretical aspects of migration and transnationalism, and the ways in which these phenomena are connected with peace and conflict. The present project aims to promote the further development of the Migration RG by providing support for the group to organise and participate in network-related activities and run international PhD courses. The project will provide support for organising and participating in workshops and conferences, and for the development of research proposals aimed at international funders. These activities will contribute to the development of new research programmes in the Migration RG. They will also contribute to the cultivation and maintenance of key networks within and outside the research community, supporting future collaboration, recruitment and impact. The project will also provide support for regular PhD courses on topics based on the core methodological and thematic competencies of the Migration RG, taught by members of the research group. The courses are part of the Research School on Peace and Conflict. The courses are intensive, five-day workshops with active student participation, open to PhD students from anywhere in the world. The Migration RG's contribution to the Research School is an important investment in the future of the field of migration studies.
