Nordic Brain Tech develops a home-based biofeedback treatment for migraine headaches. By the use of two wireless sensors and personalized software (app on a smartphone), patients can perform biofeedback training by themselves at home. The self-assisted treatment consists of a digital therapist that omits the need for a trained therapist and stationary equipment at a hospital. The developed solution is research-based from The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since 2015 and has undergone several clinical investigations by leading migraine specialists in Norway. Overall, this project is the final step on the results of a previous R&D project to bring our solution into market. The steps needed include: 1) Optimization and maturation of both the software (e.g. app and cloud infrastructure, and storage), and hardware (design including two wireless sensors) 2) Create a software-hardware interface and an accompanying user interface, with respect to the required system usability and user-friendliness; 3) Optimization of the overall process, through internal testing of functional prototypes (integrated software and hardware), 4) Demonstrate the full system functionality, performance, safety and applicability through clinical investigation with hospitals and/or university clinics (our partners) and validate/addressing the end-user benefits; 5) Perform all the requirements needed for Regulatory Compliance, ultimately providing the CE-marking while complying with MDR 2017/745 in the EU. 6) Prepare for market-roll, a successful business strategy and upscaling. The FTI program provides an unique opportunity for NBT to showcase the potential of its technology and gain market intelligence that will ultimately lead to acceptance by end-users. The completion of the project objectives is important for ensuring a successful entrance to the market and commercialization of the innovative mHealth solution.
