Smart Senior Entrepreneurship

People enter the workforce later in life, exit earlier, and live longer. 50 years is the middle of the professional life, and a perfect time to make a reflected choice on how to contribute professionally to society for the second half. There is no lack of ideas of how to change the world - yet there is an acute need for expertise. For companies to grow successfully, they need resourceful, experienced and motivated people, not necessarily based on voluntary work, but rather on direct engagement in companies. Many European States have adopted national/regional lifelong learning strategies. Nevertheless, implementation of comprehensive lifelong learning strategies remains a challenge in Europe; today only 50% of Member States are reported to have one in place. Even if they are adopted, policies supporting lifelong learning remain difficult to implement as they combine various administrations, tools and policies. 50til100 is the FIRST organisation in the Nordics to shift the current mindset of age 50+ from being a challenge to being an important value. An important part of our work is the cooperation with the startup system which need the brain power, and involvement in their own or other young companies. We aim to utilise senior resources in entrepreneurship by offering membership to network with startups, entrepreneurship programs, inspirational speeches, investor pools (to be developed) and cooperation with the startup ecosystems with a digital platform (see digital solution) that inspires, mobilises and enables older adults into entrepreneurship. We also hold 4 months entrepreneurship program (Oppstart i 100) for people over 50. The aim is to create awareness of their core values, competence, skills and passion and how to transform these into sustainable business ideas. In this program, we use a digital platform for their entrepreneurial journey. We combine camps with individual coaching and address building on the network.
