Smolt production in the future - The Sixth Conference on Recirculating aquaculture (webinar)

Awarded: NOK 99,999

Smolt production in the future is a conference that focuses on new innovations in smolt and post-smolt production in closed containment systems and it is arranged every other year. The conference is organized by Nofima and Sunndal Næringsselskap for the sixth time this year and it is the conference with the longest tradition with closed containment systems in focus in Norway and Europe. During last conference in 2018 we had the pleasure to host more than 330 national and international participants representing salmon faming industry, system and equipment suppliers, governmental agencies, researchers, and students. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemics we had to re-evaluate our plans for two-day conference at Sunndalsøra in October 2020. To ensure safety and wellbeing of our participants and to account for possible travelling restriction for both national and international participants, we have decided to move the conference to the digital platform this year. Therefore, instead of two day even at Sunndalsøra we will be arranging a webinar that will be held on 21st October 2020. Salmon producers, agencies, researchers and students will present their latest knowledge at the webinar. The focus of this year’s webinar will be: • Production in closed containment systems in the future • Industry experiences with different smolt production protocols in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) • The genetics for RAS • Research for Atlantic salmon in closed containment systems Several presentations will show the latest results from CtrlAQUA – a Centre for Research-Based Innovation (SFI) in Closed Containment Aquaculture. The CtrlAQUA centre was established in 2015 and is hosted by Nofima.
