The project will proactively tackle the issue of Energy Poverty at selected European Countries. The project aims to increase understanding of the causes and effects of energy poverty and to devise effective operational mechanisms to tackle them. Existing metrics and definitions will be reviewed. Financial and non-financial measures will be developed and assessed. The measures will be communicated to the target groups through available media channels and networks. The provision of information and advice, energy efficiency services such as draught proofing or optimization of existing building technology systems, as well as energy efficiency devices, low-energy lighting); Best Practices among participating EU countries will be benchmarked and educational activities will be designed for the support of citizens’ behaviour change and adaptation towards energy efficiency.The evidences collected from local and national authorities’ projects and databases, and related networks regarding Energy Poor Households will be used for the identification and segmentation of the target group, that is households unable to effectively afford energy in their households. In order our aim to be successful we will acquire knowledge from existing relevant projects and initiatives like the EU Energy Poverty Observatory and will further develop findings on the challenge of addressing and effectively mitigating energy poverty. Measures will be developed to address energy poverty and protect vulnerable consumers and can be divided in four main categories: (i) financial interventions; (ii) consumer protection measures; (iii) energy efficiency measures, and iv) information provision measures. POWER4LIFE will cover all the requirements of the scope, will further develop and enhance them, using the most suitable methodologies of the contributing sciences.
