Invivo Bionics is a Norwegian start-up that has developed nanotechnology-based in vivo pressure sensor systems for continuous monitoring of human organ function. In the human body, having the right pressure is vital to life. Elevated or low pressure can result in organ failure and in worst-case scenarios, death. InVivo Bionics is breaking ground with a new breed of cost-effective nanotechnology sensor system for measurement of pressure directly in vital organ. Our first area of focus is loss of bladder control affecting millions of people globally as presented in this proposal. Voiding problems such as incontinence and overactive bladder are a global burden affecting ~45% of people globally. 80% of voiding problems are treatable and even curable with correct diagnosis, but it is currently associated with high equipment investment costs (€80,000). Our goal is to significantly improve the quality of life of these people through replacing biological defects with in vivo sensors. Our team combines knowledge and experience in micro-electronics and clinical medical research in urology and is led by a female physicist, Dr. Ingelin Clausen, the founder of Invivo Bionics. The breakthroughs from her work at SINTEF form the core components of our technology. The team is further supported by a board and investor ecosystem with experience in building and scaling businesses globally. Consequently, Invivo Bionics has developed PRESSURO, breakthrough nanotechnology in vivo sensor system for monitoring of pressure directly in the urinary bladder on a continuous basis. PRESSURO facilitates high-accuracy cystometry with portable equipment in an ambulatory/stationary setup. PRESSURO is inserted into the bladder using a minimally invasive suprapubic technique, eliminating sensory irritation from and obstruction by catheter for bladder emptying. With natural bladder filling, PRESSURO is suitable for long-term pressure recording.
