Farmforce is a Norwegian SME focused on building trust and transparency in the agricultural first mile, by delivering digital solutions to secure sustainable sourcing, improve farmer quality of life and protect the environment. Farmforce will lead the planned Green Deal project, which will aim at fostering transparency and traceability of the European food system – creating incentives and responsibility of all agents towards improved efficiency of food chains on key sustainability indicators, significantly impacting in the reduction of food losses and waste. So far, Farmforce’s solutions have been targeted at smallholder and medium scale farmers in emerging markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Thus, this project will represent a unique opportunity to leverage the tools and lessons learned in our initial markets for the benefit of food chain sustainability in Europe – supporting local production, reducing inefficiencies and providing full traceability (including inputs usage and environmental/climate measurements) from farm to fork.
The project will involve a large partnership led by Farmforce (with its unique solutions and expertise in delivering digital transparency and sustainability within the agricultural first mile) and comprising Norwegian and international partners along the food value chain and across sectors – including Research Institutes, SMEs providing sustainability-focused solutions, large companies in the food sector (ingredients/crops aggregators and processors, brand owners, retailers) as well as associations representing the last mile consumption. The project objectives are ambitious and will entail several R&D challenges, which the consortium will be in a position to overcome through mobilizing technology leaders and sustainability experts.
