Zero Carbon Energy Hub - Pre-study

Awarded: NOK 0.30 mill.

The “Zero Carbon Energy Hub” (ZCEH) - is a joint "Grønn Plattform" initiative by SINTEF Energi and Equinor to prepare for a more detailed industry-study on how Norway can build a future role as exporter of low carbon energy to Europe and attract energy intensive industry to Norway, seeking a low CO2 footprint. The ZCEH pre study and consequent main project(s) align with the objective of the “Grønn Plattform programme” as the projects will align and structure Norwegian research and innovation initiatives around joint value chains to ensure synergies and value creation across industry sectors, such as land-based process industry, CCS, hydrogen and off-shore wind. Norway is in a highly favourable position to develop and mature low-carbon value-chain projects that stimulate domestic and European added value through competence building, industrial production and export while contributing to significant emission reductions. The ZCEH study will be carried out as a joint industry effort and will identify large-scale projects that effectively can demonstrate Norway´s potential as a supplier of low-carbon energy, both for export, maritime industry and for Norwegian energy intensive industry.
