Kunstproduksjon gjennom digitale medium og elevens oppleving (#ungkunst, dks og skole)

The Cultural Schoolbag (TCS) is a national Norwegian programme designed to ensure that all school pupils in Norway experience professional art and culture of all kinds. As a part of this programme 823 245 pupils from 3 212 schools in Norway participated in altogether 2,5 million unique meetings with professional arts and culture during their school day in 2019. The total budget was NOK 548 million. Kulturtanken - Arts for Young Audiences is the national organisation responsible for managing, quality assuring and developing the TCS programme. In their allocation letter for funds for TCS, Kulturtanken specifies that the contents of the programme should reflect the world of media and technology that today's children and youths live in. This description is supported by the survey Children and Media 2020, where 86 % of children and youths between 9 and 18 years old respond that they play video games. The problem is that TCS currently has an inadequate supply of productions within video games and interactive media. In the report Video games as cultural expressions within the TCS programme, Kulturtanken suggests that a possible reason for this may be insufficient competence for video games as a cultural product and artistic expression. The purpose of the PhD-project is to analyse what art experiences youths can have through video games and interactive media. A significant part of the theory and methodology for the research will be drawn from neuroaesthetics, which is a multidisciplinary science that includes philosophical aesthetics, psychology and neuroscience. The research results will provide an important platform of knowledge for the development work that Møre and Romsdal County Municipality, Kulturtanken and UKM (The Norwegian youth festivals of arts) run within digital culture for youths. The basis of the study is youths' experiences of commercially available video games with artistic aspirations and an art production for interactive medium developed by TCS in Møre and Romsdal County Municipality with support from Kulturtanken. The research is based in Kristiansund and is a part of a research and development project which will innovate the productions of The Cultural Schoolbag. This project, entitled #ungkunst, TCS and school, is initiated and owned by Møre og Romsdal County Municipality. The PhD research fellow follows the Art in context programme at the University of Agder.

Ph.D.-prosjektet er ein del av eit større forskingsprosjekt som heiter #ungkunst, DKS og skole (vidare kalt #ungkunst) og er eigd av Møre og Romsdal fylkeskommune. Hovudmålet for #ungkunst er å bidra til innovasjon ved å prøva ut nye måtar for samarbeid mellom Den kulturelle skulesekken og utdanningssektoren. Delmål 1 Modeller for organisering av DKS i samarbeid med skulen, er å utvikla modellar, gjennomførbare i DKS, som legg vekt på elevmedverknad i kunstprosessar over tid, og hensiktsmessige samarbeidsstrategiar mellom kunstnarar, lærarar, skuleleiarar, skoleeigarar og kunstinstitusjonar. Delmål 2, Kvalitet for elevane, er å undersøka korleis barn og unge opplever å delta i skapande og kunstnarlege prosessar, kva som er kjenneteikna på kvalitet i slike prosesser og om dei styrkar elevens ferdigheiter og kompetansar slik dei er definerte i Kunnskapsløftet 2020. Delprosjekt C i #ungkunst er «kunstproduksjon gjennom digitale medium og elevens oppleving», og Ph.D.-prosjektet inngår i dette. Det overordna forskingsspørsmålet i Ph.D.-prosjektet er "Korleis kan barn og unge få kunstopplevingar gjennom digitale medium?". Feltarbeidet er å undersøka opplevingane til elevane som er med på den digitale produksjon som blir utvikla i delprosjekt C i #ungkunst. Teoridelen av forskinga er basert på nevroestetikk, som er ein tverrfagleg vitskap som inkluderer filosofisk estetikk, psykologi og nevrovitskap. Det empiriske materialet vil bli henta inn mellom anna ved hjelp av djupneintervju med elevar, filosofiske samtalar med grupper av elevar og filmopptak av disse og registreringar ved hjelp av metodar frå nevroestetikk. Det vil i tillegg vera semistrukturerte djupneintervju med kunstnarane og andre som er med i utviklingsarbeidet under heile prosessen, og under turneen vil det vera tilsvarande intervju med lærarane som har klassane som får denne produksjonen. Teoridelen vil være grunnlaget for å tolka og drøfta resultata frå empirien.
