Active Airkeel stabiliser control for increased comfort and safety, fuel efficiency and enlarged operation flexibility of crew-/workboats

Awarded: NOK 79,999

The overall aim of the AMCOSTAR project is to build the first ever integrated Airkeel and ACS to install in light, highspeed crew- and workboats (<30m). We will design and manufacture our cutting-edge integrated Airkeel and ACS to make crew transfer and off-shore work both safer and more comfortable, while the enhanced boat stability makes fossil fuel boats more fuel efficient and increases electrical boats’ geographical and application range, aiding towards making off-shore industries more sustainable. The AMCOSTAR project consists of three key milestones/deliverables: 1) finalizing the optimized design of the Airkeel 2) engineering and programming the ACS to be integrated with the Airkeel, and 3) testing the integrated Airkeel and ACS under industrially relevant conditions and at a commercially relevant volume. The project is well aligned to the EUROSTARS programme, which is designed to support research intensive SMEs with early stage high risk R&D-focused projects with a large potential market and a short route to market (< two years) which is a good characterization of this project. Besides Automasjon & Data AS acting as project partner and work package leader, being involved in all work packages, the consortium will consist of: the Project Coordinator, Dacoma ApS (DK), who produces the Airkeel and lead the pilot tests, Tuco Group ApS (DK), who will install and test the integrated Airkeel and ACS in their own ProZero workboats, and UCL (DK), who will contribute with extensive knowledge about control system theory, modelling and operation simulations. The consortium brings together all necessary expertise, covering the whole value chain to improve, validate and commercialize AMCOSTAR on the international stage.
