In this project the partners will develop a new patented method for determination of the hematocrit level of small whole blood samples (e.g. a finger prick) within a few seconds after sample application. The hematocrit level is central, as it directly relates to the plasma volume of the sample, which needs to be known for not introducing additional error in quantifying the biomarker concentration in plasma.

The parties to this project will develop a cost-effective, fast, and whole blood-based in-vitro diagnostic measurement method. The goal is high accuracy and precision, which is to be achieved through the use of innovative technology for hematocrit correction. Through our patented hematocrit determination technology, we will increase the accuracy of plasma biomarker concentration determination for a variety of whole blood tests.
