Organizing an international global health congress- 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) 2021

This application concerns support for organizing an international global health congress- the 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) 2021 in Bergen 28/9-1/10 2021. The congress plan for 1000 participants; scientists, practitioners, students, policy makers. The congress will be held online and will have a) one day with 'Taking stock of the Coronavirus Pandemic', where we will discuss the virus, the disease, experiences in laboratories, hospitals, vaccines, preventive measures, societal and economy impact. The newest research on the Coronavirus pandemic will be presented and discussed. b) 2 days with packed scientific programme in global health, with nine parallels: 1. Migration, Climate and Health; 2. HIV, TB and Hepatitis; 3. Malaria, parasitic, vector-borne and neglected tropical infectious diseases; 4. OneHealth, antimicrobial resistance, water and sanitation ;5. Building strong health systems to achieve Universal Health Coverage: the role of rights, governance, technology and priority setting; 6. Nutrition, Noncommunicable diseases, oral health; 7. Mental health and health promotion; 8. Disasters, accidents, injuries, global surgery and rehabilitation; 9. Sexual, reproductive and child health and rights. Main focus: Prevention and interdisiplinary work. c) one day for young researchers, with 9 parallels on career development, writing scientific papers, presentation skills, videos, podcast, grant writing. Participants are invited to submit abstracts, for both oral presentations and posters. The congress is organized biannually, in agreement with the Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and International Health (FESTMIH). In 2021, Centre for International Health, University of Bergen is responsible for arranging the congress, in cooperation with the scientific global health environment in Norway. CIH has the total economic responsibility for the congress, and applies for support to arrange the event.
