9th Norwegian Environmental Toxicology Symposium

Awarded: NOK 99,999

The Norwegian Environmental Toxicology Symposium is a biennial interdisciplinary symposium with focus on research-based solutions to solve challenges related to the protection of the environment, and in particular increasing knowledge on how anthropogenic stressors affect the ecosystem alone and in combination with other stressors. NETS aims to bring research, management and industry together to address contemporarily important topics, as well as those that will become the challenges of tomorrow. The 9th NETS will be held at UiT the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø in March 2022. The conference will address the increasing pressure on our marine ecosystems from pollution, anthropogenic activities and climate change. More specifically, the meeting will highlight a number of themes relevant to marine pollution such as littering and impacts of plastics, effects of multiple stressors, mixture toxicities, environmental disturbances from industrial activities and linking pollution to ocean and human health. NETS2022 will be dedicated to highlight the UN Ocean Decade mission “Clean Ocean” and contribute to enhancing communication and exchange of knowledge across disciplines and sectors related to Ocean health. NETS2022 will also facilitate communication and the development of new ideas among seniors and early career scientists. Finally, a special issue compiling scientific results from conference participants will be published and ensure a broad international visibility of Norway´s excellent research.
