The 10th "International Meeting on Plant Peptides and Receptors

Awarded: NOK 43,585

In 2022 it is the turn of Norway to host the 10th "International Meeting on Plant Peptides and Receptors" (PEPTIDE2022) with approximately 80 attendees. We are planning to hold the meeting in the Scandic Holmenkollen Park Hotel in Oslo from the 14th to the 16th of September. Several leading scientists, which are at different career stages, have already agreed to participate in the meeting as keynote speakers: Prof. Thomas Dresselhaus, University of Regensburg; Dr. Elwira Smakowska-Luzan, Wageningen University; Dr. Jenny Russinova, VIB Gent; Prof. Susana Coelho, Director, Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, Tübingen, Prof. Gwyneth Ingram, ENS Lyon and Prof. Tetsuya Higashiyama, ITbM, Japan. The scientific program of the meeting will cover different aspects of biological processes involving peptide-based regulatory processes such as biotic stress/pathogen responses, fertilization, abscission and plant growth and development. These processes influence directly or indirectly the performance of plants and their ability to adapt successfully to the consequences of climate change. We plan to hold a mini-workshop before the official start of the meeting (14th of September in the morning) for early career scientists focused on providing guidance regarding career development and conveying relevant skills for grant writing with a focus on HORIZON EUROPE relevant knowledge. In addition, we are planning to organize a public evening lecture combined with a plenary discussion on the 15th of September in collaboration with the Bioteknologiradet to showcase the opportunities, potential and challenges associated with using knowledge about peptide-based signaling processes to improve plant performance in the context of sustainable production of food and energy.
