Stavanger Kommune and partners have selected two complementary Testbeds that best represent the challenges and opportunities identified in the city's Territorial Transformation Plan. The first one is Pedersgata, a mature urban neighbourhood in the Storhaug district, with great commitment and ownership among the local population and local initiatives, where local solutions can be tested and scaled up. Pedersgata is diverse in terms of built environment and facilities with, amongst others, traditional 1-storey wooden houses and high-rise buildings, a petrol station, second-hand shops, and a myriad of restaurants. Pedersgata is the main route for walking and cycling between the city centre, the Eastern part of Stavanger. Pedersgata has a great potential to become an even more attractive urban space for living and mobility. The second one is Site 4016, a transformation area in the Åsen district, with a forward-looking business cluster that wants to take the lead in the development of long-term life-cycle thinking for the building sector needs a bit more detail on Site 4016. Gathering, combining and applying relevant tools and methods for involvement and co-creation in two very different areas of the city gives Stavanger more fine-tuned feedback on their relevance, and running two parallel Testbeds makes it possible to verify and challenge results across them. This represents a first proof of concept of the transferability of the tools and results across different contexts. In order to facilitate learning and transferability between both Testbeds, we have chosen areas in which investments and development are made by many of the same commercial investors and developers, architectural firms and social entrepreneurship organisations that have shown that they want to work together to achieve climate neutrality. In addition, many local actors such as citizens' organizations, schools, artistic organisations and shopkeepers are engaged.
