BodySegAI – Artificial intelligence to measure muscle mass in cancer patients BodySegAI measures muscle and different types of fat in cancer patients using already existing CT-scans. Integration of BodySegAI in the hospital workflow can enable individual tailoring of cancer treatment, in addition to prevention and treatment of low muscle mass, sarcopenia and malnutrition. Patients with cancer often loose muscle mass. Loss of muscle mass may result in poorer survival, lower ability to complete their cancer treatment and increased complication rate. Despite this, body composition (i.e. fat and muscles) is not measured in colorectal cancer patients at Norwegian hospitals. We have developed BodySegAI, a software based on artificial intelligence which automatically provide information on the patients body composition. The purpose of the project has been to further develop the software for integration into clinical systems, as well as prepare a commercialization strategy for the technology.
