TRANSPORT-Transport 2025

Transportation of the Future

Awarded: NOK 99,999

United Nations Global Compact Norway (UNGC Norway) is applying for funding to set up a seminar to engage companies with research institutions by focusing on building knowledge and competencies around carbon-neutral transportation and its impact on society. According to Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, the transportation industry contributes to approximately 17% (578 million tons) of total greenhouse gas emissions in the region. In line with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 13 (Climate Action), and 17 (Partnerships for the goals), it is crucial to make transportation safe and sustainable by using research, technology, and innovation. The session aims to educate industry leaders and decision-makers by providing a blueprint for the 2050 net-zero emissions goal. Participants will be introduced to analytical tools and frameworks to help them optimize transportation and harness efficiency. With a key focus on sustainability and circular economy, the session seeks to deploy ground-breaking research to create intelligent business solutions within the legislative framework and regulations. To achieve the objectives mentioned above, active participation from the business community is crucial. Owing to the format of the event, i.e., digital, attracting many relevant professionals is challenging. Another potential risk is content structure and depth. Highly specialized content will make it difficult for participants to digest and interpret the information. If it is too broad, participants will not be able to devise targeted solutions. The speakers must strike the right balance between breadth and depth to ensure a meaningful session. A way to overcome this is to share preparatory material in advance. It will provide a foundational understanding of the topic and allow participants to engage in critical discussions during the session.
