Arbeidsrett og det grønne skiftet

Alternative title: Labour Law and the Green Shift

Awarded: NOK 0.89 mill.

Questions related to sustainability and climate issues are among the biggest challenges of our time. In the process of achieving the climate goals, working life is a key factor. Sustainability in the context of labour law is often understood to mean that both environmental (ecological), social and economic sustainability will be ensured - often referred to as the three dimensions of sustainable development. Sustainability is increasingly an agenda setter in Norwegian labour law and expected to become even more important in the future. It is therefore necessary to develop the law so that Norway can be prepared to meet future demands. This way it is possible to facilitate an optimize a working life which includes both climate considerations and that of the parties in the working relationship. Hardly any research has been done on this subject within Norwegian labour law. With the AGS project, we hope to increase interest as well as to facilitate active research on this question. Internationally, there is an ongoing discussion on how labour law can be an instrument to promote a sustainable and climate-friendly working life. National rules must therefore also be evaluated and developed to meet the demands from the international community. How this can and should happen within the framework of the green shift is often referred to as a "just transition", a transition that means a greener economy conducted in a way that is fair and inclusive for those involved in working life. The AGS project has a high focus on interdisciplinarity and has a broadly composed research group. Emphasis has been put on creating cooperation between both national and international institutions. Collaboration between different disciplines has also been important, as we believe that this will contribute to a deeper understanding of the questions to be analyzed. In addition to lawyers who represent both breadth and depth, the project therefore also includes both political scientists and historians.
