nanoSuperCaps - PES-HORISONT-EU Project Establishment Support

Awarded: NOK 74,999

Project Number:

Project Period:

2022 - 2023

Subject Fields:

The nanoSuperCaps EIC Accelerator proposal has the following summary: We are developing a technology for supercapacitors electrodes using interconnected cross-linked carbon nanotubes as the active electrode creating a porous film with effective electrode area from 10 000 to 100 000 larger than a flat electrode area. The starting point of the R&D work is the achieved results from more than 15 years of research performed by the founders of nanoCaps in their work as professors at University of South-Eastern Norway. The incoming R&D work is highly innovative giving disruptively better supercapacitors with improved performance at lower cost than industry-best supercapacitors with activated carbon as the active electrode film. Performance merit examples are research lab results with specific area capacitance around 2 500 milliFarad, expected to be improved beyond 3 500 milliFarad in this project, compared to present industry-best around 650 milliFarad, giving more than doubled specific energy and power densities.
