Together with our partners in France, we aim to build an modeling infrastructure that can consistently simulate the Greenland ice sheet over the entire glacial cycle and validate the results using the best available reconstructions. This can greatly improve our understanding of ice sheet stability and sea level rise. We will also address the important question of how robust the modeling tools are that we use to estimate future sea level rise.
Besides the exciting science questions that our new tools enable, another important objective of this project is to establish a strong international collaboration, firmly rooted in shared development of key methods. We believe that this project is an optimal foundation for future joint research projects, especially targeting European research programs.
