Establishing a formal and functional national consortium of the GGP in Norway and contribute to the successful implementation of the GGP-5D project (preparatory phase project of the GGP) are the superior aims of the here proposed project. In a first step the GGP project team at Statistics Norway will reach out to all relevant national research organisations and potential stakeholders and invite them to join the Norwegian consortium of the GGP. Thereafter, the Norwegian consortium will in collaboration with the Research Council of Norway decide, who may represent Norway in the international GGP, including the Consortium Board of the GGP, the Board of Governance and the network of national nodes of the GGP. Second, it is important to secure the interests of Norwegian researchers and stakeholders in the international GGP. The Consortium Board of the GGP is by today the ultimate decision-making body of the GGP and meets at least once a year. Statistic Norway is an observatory member of the Consortium Board and therefore currently without voting rights. Through paying the annual Membership Fee, the Norwegian consortium can achieve a full membership and voting rights in the Consortium Board and front the interest of the Norwegian research community. Third, after its successful application to the ESFRI-roadmap, the GGP currently conducts the preparatory phase project GGP-5D. The overall aim of the GGP-5D project is to enhance the long-term sustainability and the overall ‘investment-readiness’ of the GGP. In other words, this is a crucial phase for the GGP and decisions that are taken now, will shape the future of the GGP. Statistics Norway is an active partner in the GGP-5D project and has committed itself to contribute to at least two WPs in the project agreement. With the here proposed project, Statistics Norway will be able to increase its engagement in the GGP-5D project, including two additional WPs of the GGP-5D project.
