Elevens stemme i transfaglig undervisningsdesign

Alternative title: The student perspective in cross-subject teaching design

Awarded: NOK 2.0 mill.

Popular science presentation The purpose of the Ph.D. is to provide information about what students perceive as good learning processes, with regard to the experience of mastery, increased competence and learning, in addition to inclusion and participation in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching design. The project will provide data showing how pupils experience their role in a learning community that builds on the overarching interdisciplinary themes "democracy and citizenship" and "public health and life skills", taken from the LK20 curriculum. With this data, the school will develop new teaching methods that emphasise emphasize subject-integrated teaching methods and widen the pupils' space for participation and cooperation in these learning processes. This will give the school more insight into what promotes pupils' academic and social learning as well as insight into development and what is needed to counteract negative experiences following a lack of mastery, social exclusion, and the risk of dropping-out during the academic school year. Summary The overarching research question in this Ph.D. is how students experience their learning process along with a closer look at their understanding of roles in a subject-integrated teaching design. The concept of subject-integrated teaching design covers the concepts of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching. The data will mainly be student data, such as student interviews and student work, as well as interviews with teachers, with a closer look at their plans and teaching documents. The research design of the doctoral work is an intervention study that will bring out the pupils' academic and social experiences in a subject-integrated learning community, as well as the pupils' own understanding of their role in this learning space. The research question will discuss the student perspective of three aspects of teaching; pupil participation, subject-integrated teaching and assessment practice.
