The core idea of MiniCam is to combine state-of-the-art miniaturised camera modules with flexible illumination to give a stereo-vision perspective of the interior of for example pressure vessels to the operator, and this can be employed to solve the problem of inspecting large, confined spaces with access only through small nozzles. This will provide operational flexibility, save time and cost for the end users, i.e. the asset owners.
The main outcome of the MiniCam project will be to provide a route to more preventive maintenance for vessel inspections for processing plant owners. This will provide a start of implementing new operational practices that are more efficient and safe. The business impact will be; - reduced need for confined space entry during scheduled maintenance periods ==> more cost efficient shutdown periods - reduced impact from unscheduled shutdowns through a faster and safer method ==>Increased operational efficiency and profit - safer approach to inspecting the inside of process vessel
