The organizer of this event is the Soft and Complex Matter Lab (ww.softcomlab.com) located at the Department of Physics at NTNU. The event is the 10th in a series of annual events named the “Annual International Workshop in Soft and Complex Matter”. All the previous 9 events have been organized by the same main organizer (Prof. Jon Otto Fossum, Soft and Complex Matter Lab, NTNU) in the same manner, i.e. a 2-day event organized in the localities of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA) in Oslo.
In the recent Research Council evaluation of natural sciences in Norway, (Evalnat), the Soft and Complex matter Lab at NTNU received high scores compared to other groups at the same department. Among the strong points brought forward by the Evalnat evaluation panel were international networking including extensive international event organization, excellence in research at the borderline between basic science and applications. as well as and innovation and patenting. It was also brought forward as a strong point that the Soft and Complex Matter Lab performs research of high societal relevance, including research on natural nanomaterials, CO2 capture, the physics of edible materials, and other topics. Finally. another aspect of high societal impact of the Soft and Complex Matter Lab that Evalnat highlight is the group’s extensive interaction with large and small (SME) national and international industry.
The event will touch all these factors during it's two days at DNVA.
