TECHEP - Qualification 2024

In knowledge sharing, language is typically used as the primary modality for communication. However, when background knowledge and language proficiency vary, language can hinder effective and transparent knowledge sharing by contributing to information loss, misunderstandings, and making it difficult to establish a common ground for understanding. This is especially relevant in higher education, scientific and professional communication, and in interdisciplinary teams where there may be discrepancies in academic background and knowledge levels. TECHEP aims to improve human information sharing and understanding through the development of human-centered AI generative technology. An application will be developed that automatically generates visual support for linguistic explanations and content. More specifically, the solution will translate verbal narratives into understandable figurative visualizations that capture the essence of the idea being communicated. The goal is to take generative visualization technology to a new level and make communication of complex information more transparent, effective, and accessible, as well as facilitate access to advanced mental models, increase thematic understanding, and reduce disparities in access to complex learning material.

Resultatene fra prosjektet har høy nytteverdi på flere nivåer. For prosjektgruppen vil prosjektet og videre arbeid med bidra til unik kunnskap om hvordan oversette menneske-orientert kognitiv psykologisk kunnskap med hensikt på å trene KI-baserte teknologiske løsninger. Innen forskning og utdanning kan løsningen bidra til forenkling av kommunikasjon av komplekse faglige konsepter, noe som kan styrke både undervisning og læring. Når det gjelder kompetanseutvikling, vil teknologien kunne støtte livslang læring ved å redusere barrierer knyttet til kommunikasjon og forståelse, og dermed gjøre kunnskap mer tilgjengelig for flere. I næringslivet kan løsningene bidra til mer effektiv formidling og samarbeid i tverrfaglige team og prosjektarbeid, der presis kommunikasjon ofte er avgjørende. På samfunnsnivå vil prosjektets resultater kunne fremme lik tilgang til kunnskap, i tråd med bærekraftsmålene, spesielt mål 4 om god utdanning og mål 10 om redusert ulikhet.
