A key advantage of krill oil is that its omega-3 fatty acids are predominantly bound to phospholipids. Currently, the phospholipid content of our oils range from around 40% to 56%, we have been developing new methods for concentrating specific phospholipid species, such as phosphatidylcholine and lyso-phosphatidylcholine (LPC) and to increase the amount of omega-3 fatty acids bound to these phospholipids.
Now we plan to initiate several human studies using this new LPC bound DHA and EPA product (product name: Lysoveta). Throughout this project, we are aiming to document beneficial effect of Lysoveta on cognition performance in elderly population, and improved sperm quality in healthy male population.
