of trans-genes, and aberrations in host animal gene-expression patterns, and experience to be included in regulatory frameworks. Futhermore, these studies will provide background for design of in vitro model experiments, and some of the approaches and res ults may have commercial interest.Authoritative inter-and over-national organizations, as well as many scientific milieus, have arrived at the conclusion that animal feeding experiments must be integrated parts of GM food/feed safety assessment framework. Most studies published so far have focused on animal production parameters, and the few studies designed to reveal nutritional, toxicological, immunological carcinogenic or other health-relevant effects have been criticized for design or execution. The d esign of the present feeding study is based on the requirements and criticism that have been put forward, as well as on new knowledge and experimental methods that have emerged. Potential physiological or pathological differences betw e. the 35S internat ional group of scientists that are highly experienced in their respective fields. Sensitive methods to reveal uptake of foreign DNA, expression of trans-genes, and aberrations in host animal gene-expression patterns, and experience to be included in regul atory frameworks. Futhermore, these studies will provide background for design of in vitro model experiments, and some of the approaches and res ults may have commercial interest.
