Tildelt: kr 3,0 mill.

The project will study a three step model of how scientific results are received and interpreted by the public: from new scientific knowledge, to presentations to the public, and therefrom to "folk theories" of reproduction. Using a gender sensitive appro ach, documents will be studies to find if and in case how gender differences are reflected in the research, and what perceptions of gender the presentations to the public build on. How are women's concerns and perspectives represented? The project will st udy women's and men's perceptions of reproduction, genes and new technologies and what types of information perceptions are built on. How are they discussed and reinterpreted among couples and with friends? What new ethical dilemmas are perceived as vital and what are the considerations of them? How can these questions be transformed to policy making?
