Multivariable Process Control in High Temperature and High Pressure Environments using Multi Sensor Data Fusion

Tildelt: kr 9,6 mill.

More advanced and versatile sensors are presently available. Incorporation of these sensors in processes, can in many cases lead to improved methods for process control and hence process optimization, by giving more accurate values for critical parameters either by direct measurement or by estimation and facilitating the estimation of new parameters. Inclusion of sensors and development of algorithms for fusing sensor data, will enhance the quality and quantity of information available for process control purposes. This project looks into the status quo of sensors and analysis of sensor data critically, and aims at integrating new sensors and developing new algorithms in processes with harsh environments like underbalaneed drilling, hydrocyclones or alumi num smelters. Continuing the already started collaboration with leading researchers in the field of sensors and sensor data fusion such as in the field of mobile robots and neural networks and high temperature sensors, will lead to added synergy effects. Inclusion of new sensor developments in the offshore oil and gas industry and molten metal industries, scenarios using different sensor types and algoritms will be evaluated in the context of Multi Sensor Data Fusion (MSDF) dedicat ed to underbalanced drilling. MSDF is a key R&D area gaining significance worldwide.
