IEA H2 Annex 18 Integrated Systems: Evaluation of Hydrogen Demonstration Projects

Tildelt: kr 0,90 mill.

Hydrogen energy systems have been proposed as a means to increase energy independence, improve domestic economies, and reduce greenhouse gas and other harmful emissions from stationary and mobile sources. Many hydrogen roadmaps are being developed around the world and high-level groups are being formed in many countries. Demonstration systems are being implemented in all the participating countries, but commercial systems still face technical and economic barriers that must be overcome before hydrogen c an become a competitive energy carrier. This project involves participation in IEA's Hydrogen Program Annex 18, which is a continuation of Annex 9 and 13 where tools were developed and used to design and optimize integrated hydrogen energy systems. Thes e tools will be used to evaluate existing and planned demonstration projects, and to provide alternative configurations and operating conditions to optimize efficiency and cost. Norway will lead Subtask B "Demonstration Project Evaluation". Non-proprieta ry information will be provided to participating countries and parties to improve future demonstration project designs and operation.
